How to get here

Airport: Kavala Alexander the Great Airport: 26.0 km
Ferry: Thasos (Limenas): 15.0 km
Ferries come to Thasos either from the town of Kavala or from the small harbour of Keramoti, close to Kavala Airport and linking to the Egnatia Motorway, which runs from Igoumenitsa on Greece's west coast to the Turkish border at Kipi, past Alexandroupoli.
The ferry from Keramoti brings you to the main town of Thasos (Limenas) and takes about 35 minutes.
The ferry trip from Kavala takes about 80 minutes and brings you to the harbour of Prinos, just two villages north of Kallirahi.

Taxis are easily available both on the mainland and on the island.

The island has a very good road all round the island with roads up into the hills to the top villages (most villages have a 'top' village and its twin down on the coast, called the Skala; hence Kallirahi village has Skala Kallirahi by the sea). Local buses make the rounds regularly or you can hire a car or motorbike to get around with.
